About Mike O' Bryan

Michael O' Bryan began playing the accordian with lessons at the Central Conservatory of Music in Louisville while he was in the fourth grade. With high hopes for playing the trumpet someday, he also learned to play the clarinet in high school band class. He continued with the accordion lessons as well, participating in the accordion orchestra and playing clarinet in the marching bands. He began teaching students and playing at private parties adn lodges, continuing through college. After returning to Louisville, he met a group of musicians that were not only interested in bluegrass but all forms of music, especially Western, Urban Swing and Blues. The Falls City Ramblers began playing locally and after a year all quit their "day jobs" to play full time. They played throughout the Midwest and East coast and recorded several albums. Playing out in the bluegrass and traditional music scene, they were popular as a versatile 7-piece traditional band.

After five years of "full time music," Mike left the road, married, adn began an electrical apprenticeship. Now he draws on all of his experiences and can play just about anything requested. Still playing traditional acoustic folk and swing music with many of his Rambler friends, his regular appearances are with the bands Memphis Red Hots and Nuance and Old Uncle. He has recorded with NRBQ founder Steve Ferguson and was teh accordionist with the Louisville Ballet's production of "Shakers". He holds a contract with the City of Louisville to provide music through out the community with its "SummerScene adn WinterScene" programs. He is also a 25-year member of the American Federation of Musicans.
