Bruce Lewis is one the Elder Statesman of the Lexington, KY music scene. He comes by that accolade honestly. In a career that spans nearly 4 decades, Bruce has performed with some the greatest names in the music business in a multitude of styles. World music phenom, Bela Fleck; country/ Bluegrass musicians such as Ricky Skaggs and songwriter, Larry Cordle; jazz with guitar legend, the late Larry Coryell; and blues with the legendary Honey Boy Edwards. After 20 years of performing in Europe, Bruce returned to the Lexington scene in 2012 doing what he does best—Rockin’R&B Blues and Jazz with a voice, guitar and repertoire that covers everything from Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Marvin Gaye, the intimate singer/songwriter tones of James Taylor and Michael Franks, his own originals, all the way to straight ahead jazz standards a la Gershwin, Ellington and Cole Porter. His repertoire can fit into large rooms and theaters as well as more intimate small room settings and private parties. Bruce is back on the local scene playing clubs like Creaux, Ruddy Duck, Willie’s Locally Known, acoustic sets at Twisted Cork and Windy Corner, civic functions at Arts Place and full blown concerts at Moon Dance Theater in Lexington with thousands of listeners. Bruce can perform solo, duo, with his popular trio, and even larger ensembles. |
